Telecom Namibia says recent network disruptions were caused by failures on international connectivity routes, resulting in slower internet speeds and intermittent access to some services.
The company said the outage increased pressure on alternative network paths, affecting mobile data and browsing services for some users.
Technical teams have been working to stabilise the network, with measures already implemented to restore service levels. These include redirecting traffic, upgrading and reconfiguring key equipment, and strengthening capacity at major network nodes.
Chief executive Dr Stanley Shanapinda said the disruption originated from external connectivity routes but apologised for the impact on customers.
“We regret the inconvenience experienced by our customers during this period. While the disruption originated from external connectivity routes, our teams acted swiftly to stabilise services and implement safeguards to minimise impact. We remain fully committed to strengthening our network resilience and ensuring reliable connectivity for all our customers,” he said.
Telecom Namibia said services are stabilising, with further improvements expected as restoration work continues.
