Namibia has appointed Cornelia Shipindo to lead its national cyber security incident response operations as the country moves to strengthen its ability to detect, coordinate and respond to growing cyber threats.
Shipindo took over as Executive of the Namibia Cyber Security Incident Response Team (NAM-CSIRT) on 1 October 2026, according to the Communications Regulatory Authority of Namibia (CRAN), where the national cyber security response team is housed.
She will oversee Namibia’s national cyber security incident response capability, with responsibility for improving cyber threat preparedness, coordinating responses to cyber incidents and strengthening the protection of critical information infrastructure.
Her mandate will also include improving information sharing and collaboration between government institutions, businesses, academia and international partners as Namibia expands its digital infrastructure and services.
Shipindo brings experience in cyber security, ICT governance, risk management, digital transformation, regulatory compliance and project management.
CRAN Chief Executive Officer and Head of NAM-CSIRT Emilia Nghikembua said the appointment is aimed at strengthening the country’s ability to respond to an increasingly complex cyber threat environment.
“Her extensive experience in cyber security, ICT governance, and strategic management will be instrumental in strengthening Namibia’s cyber resilience and advancing our vision of a secure, trusted, and digitally empowered nation,” Nghikembua said.
“Her leadership will further deepen collaboration among government, industry, academia, and international partners as we respond to the rapidly evolving cyber threat landscape.”
Shipindo said cyber security would require greater coordination across Namibia’s public and private sectors.
“Cyber security is a shared responsibility, and I look forward to working with government institutions, industry stakeholders, academia, and international partners to strengthen cyber resilience, enhance incident response capabilities, and promote a culture of cyber security awareness across the nation,” she said.
NAM-CSIRT is responsible for coordinating national responses to cyber security incidents and supporting efforts to safeguard Namibia’s digital environment and critical information infrastructure.
Under Shipindo, the team is expected to focus on strengthening incident response capabilities, cyber security awareness and information sharing as Namibia’s economy and public services become increasingly dependent on digital systems.
