Paratus mobile business generates N$94m in first year as 083 network gains traction

Paratus Namibia Holdings generated N$94 million in revenue from its mobile business during its first year, marking an early financial contribution from the telecommunications company’s push into Namibia’s mobile market.

The mobile revenue comprised N$49.8 million in recurring revenue recognised over time and N$44.2 million in non-recurring revenue recognised at a point in time, according to Paratus’ reviewed financial results for the year ended 30 June 2026.     10 Tensor 1 OctoBen 2026

The figures provide an early indication of the commercial uptake of Paratus’ 083 Mobile offering as the company expands beyond its traditional fibre and enterprise connectivity operations into consumer mobile services.

Mobile accounted for about 14% of the group’s roughly N$688 million in revenue during the period, establishing the segment as a notable new revenue stream within Paratus’ broader telecommunications business.

The expansion is, however, still in an investment phase. Paratus incurred about N$77 million in operating expenditure attributable to the mobile project during the year and invested a further N$36.6 million in mobile infrastructure.

This puts combined mobile-related operating and infrastructure expenditure at more than N$113 million during the period, highlighting the cost of establishing and scaling a new mobile network.

The N$94 million in mobile revenue therefore does not translate directly into profit, with Paratus continuing to spend on network infrastructure and operations as it builds its subscriber and coverage base.

At group level, revenue increased by 24% from about N$556 million to N$688 million, an increase of approximately N$132 million.

The mobile operation contributed a substantial portion of that additional revenue, although Paratus’ established connectivity and infrastructure businesses also continued to generate income.

The results show Paratus is increasingly evolving from a predominantly enterprise connectivity and fibre provider into a broader telecommunications operator spanning fixed connectivity, digital infrastructure and mobile services.

Its 083 Mobile rollout has also introduced additional competition into Namibia’s mobile telecommunications market, where operators require significant upfront investment in network infrastructure before subscriber growth and recurring service revenue can deliver returns.

For Paratus, the next test will be whether the early revenue generated by 083 Mobile can scale sufficiently to absorb the operating and infrastructure costs associated with building its position in the mobile market.
