Mobile Telecommunications (MTC) has announced that it will host a tech innovation bazaar with the aim of showcasing cutting-edge technologies and innovations that have the potential to revolutionize industries, with a specific focus on enhancing digital inclusivity in the country.

The event, which will be held in collaboration with ICTechHub and the NUST High-Tech Transfer Plaza Select (HTTPS), themed ‘Digital Inclusivity through Innovation’, will provide aspiring startups and innovators with the opportunity to pitch their ideas to a panel of judges and potential investors for support.

“By bringing together a diverse range of participants, including investors, industry stakeholders, mentors, partners, and innovators, the event aims to incubate and bring their ideas to market,” said the listed telco.

Nawa Likando, the Head of Digital Transformation and Innovation at MTC, emphasized that this collaboration aims to create a platform where ideas can thrive and contribute to the advancement of technology in Namibia.

“At MTC, we believe in the power of innovation to drive positive change. The MTC Tech Innovation Bazaar is a testament to our commitment to fostering a culture of digital inclusivity,” Likando said.

Additionally, the bazaar seeks to showcase how anyone can be a driver of innovation and design.

“The MTC Tech Innovation Bazaar aims to demonstrate how technological advancements contribute to the digital inclusivity of rural communities, learners, youth, and elders, among others. They are not just consumers but also drivers of innovations and designers of relevant technologies,” explained Prof. Heike Winschiers-Theophilus, co-founder and lead of the Inclusive and Collaborative Tech Innovation Hub at NUST.

The bazaar will cover various areas, including the environment, tourism, arts and culture, education, youth and social services, finance, trade and commerce, health, ICT, labor, works, industrial relations, employment creation, urban-rural development, justice, gender equality, child protection, and defense.
