Paratus signs reseller agreement with Starlink for Africa

The Paratus Group has entered into an agreement to become the distributor for Starlink’s high-speed services across the African continent.

According to the telco, the agreement will allow Paratus to offer Starlink services to its customers across Africa as operating licenses are awarded to Starlink in those countries.

“Initially, and with immediate effect, Starlink will be available through Paratus in Mozambique, Kenya, Rwanda, and Nigeria before expanding to more countries.”

Starlink, founded by Elon Musk, provides high-speed broadband internet using a simple, scalable hardware platform that can be easily deployed across locations worldwide.

“Currently, Starlink serves tens of thousands of business locations and provides various services, including primary enterprise connectivity, 4G and VSAT replacement, backup, interim setups, and emergency services. Across its network, Starlink maintains an uptime of over 99.5% for all customers, and even higher for installations without obstructions, with uptime measured independently of mitigating factors such as weather and wire-cut outages.”

Paratus said through the agreement, it will be able to offer its customers fixed, mobility, and maritime services with immediate effect.

“This agreement aligns perfectly with our vision of transforming Africa through exceptional digital infrastructure and customer service,” said Martin Cox, Group Chief Commercial Officer of Paratus.

“It means we can offer reliable and constant connectivity to industry sectors such as land and offshore energy, mining, hospitality, education, healthcare, agriculture, and more, no matter how remote they are. The Starlink agreement further strengthens our LEO (low earth orbit) satellite services offering across Africa and affirms our considerable capability and reach on the continent. It reinforces our goal to collaborate with entities that share our vision of transforming both African businesses and communities.”

The Paratus Group is a Pan-African telecom and network services provider with operations in seven African countries: Angola, Botswana, DRC, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, and Zambia. The business’s extended network offers satellite connectivity-focused services in more than 35 African countries.
